Delete Your Account & Data.

Option 1: Instant Self-Service Deletion In-App or on talknote.live (Recommended)

If you are signed into the TalkNote mobile application (iOS, iPadOS, or Android) or the TalkNote Web App (talknote.live/settings), you can trigger immediate permanent deletion yourself:

1. Open the TalkNote app or visit talknote.live/settings.
2. Navigate to your Profile tab and tap the Settings gear icon.
3. Select Account (or scroll to the Danger Zone section on Web).
4. Optional: Tap Request My Data first if you want to download a JSON .zip archive of your Voice Notes, messages, and profile data before deleting.
5. Tap Delete Account and confirm permanent deletion.

Prefer a temporary break instead? Select Deactivate Account in Settings to temporarily hide your profile and Voice Notes until you log back in.

What Data Is Deleted vs. Retained & Retention Schedule

When permanent account deletion is executed for your TalkNote from Rare Inc. account, our backend performs the following actions:

• Profile, Authentication & Social Graph (Deleted Immediately In-App; Within 30 Days via Web Form): Your user record (users), username, @handle, email address, verified phone number, Date of Birth, active session tokens (auth_tokens), registered push notification tokens (user_devices), follower/following links, follow requests, likes, reposts, verification request rows, and linked Firebase Authentication identity (including refresh token revocation) are permanently deleted via cascading database deletion (ON DELETE CASCADE).
• Voice Notes, Audio Comments, Stories, Avatars & Pinned Photos (Deleted Immediately In-App; Backups Expire in 30–90 Days): All exclusively user-owned media objects in Google Cloud Storage (avatars/, covers/, audio/notes/, audio/comments/, stories/, and pinned_photos/) are unlinked and deleted from cloud storage. Residual copies in encrypted disaster-recovery database backups automatically cycle out within 30 to 90 days.
• Direct Messages & Data Export Archives (Deleted Immediately In-App): Sent direct message records and private message audio/attachments (dms/), as well as any generated data export .zip files (exports/), are permanently deleted.
• Anonymised Compliance Audit Entry (Retained in Non-Identifiable Form): Our system records a single USER_ACCOUNT_DELETED event in admin_audit_logs with a truncated, anonymised IP subnet (/24 for IPv4; /48 for IPv6) and sanitised user-agent string solely to demonstrate statutory GDPR/CCPA erasure compliance and prevent abuse.
• Sign in with Apple Users: Deleting your account revokes your TalkNote credentials immediately. You can also remove TalkNote from your Apple ID settings under iOS Settings → [Your Name] → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple → TalkNote → Stop Using Apple ID.
