These Guidelines apply to all user-generated content and interactions on TalkNote, including Notes, Voice Notes, audio broadcasts, captions, images, Stories, comments and replies, reposts, direct messages, public profiles, and Live rooms.
1. Respect & Harassment
We believe in open conversation, but we do not tolerate targeted harassment, bullying, or intimidation intended to silence, demean, or degrade others.
Prohibited behavior includes:
- Targeted bullying, persistent unwanted contact, or intimidation directed at specific individuals.
- Organizing or encouraging targeted harassment or brigade attacks against someone.
- Unwanted sexual harassment, including sending unrequested sexually explicit voice notes, messages, or media.
- Humiliation campaigns, malicious doxxing, or malicious tracking of private individuals.
Freedom of Expression: Robust disagreement, harsh critique of public figures or published ideas, debate, and political commentary do not constitute harassment unless they cross into targeted personal abuse or threats.
2. Hateful Conduct
TalkNote is committed to keeping audio spaces free from discrimination and hate-fueled attacks. You may not attack, incite violence against, or promote hatred toward individuals or groups based on protected characteristics.
Protected characteristics include: Race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, serious health condition, sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation.
Prohibited content includes:
- Dehumanizing slurs, hateful tropes, or statements promoting racial, religious, or gender-based superiority.
- Calls for exclusion, segregation, or violence targeting a protected group.
- Promoting violent extremist ideologies or hate group symbolism.
Contextual Distinction: Discussing sensitive social issues, historic events, religion, political policy, or academic research is permitted when done without promoting hatred or violence toward individuals.
3. Threats, Violence & Dangerous Organizations
We strictly prohibit content that incites, glorifies, or threatens real-world physical violence.
Prohibited behavior includes:
- Credible threats of physical violence, murder, bodily injury, or property destruction.
- Encouraging, facilitating, or praising acts of mass violence, terrorism, or violent crime.
- Recruitment, fundraising, or propaganda for violent extremist organizations or designated terrorist groups.
Educational & News Exceptions: Discussion or commentary regarding news events, conflict reporting, historical analysis, or condemnation of violence is permitted provided it does not promote or glorify violence.
4. Child Safety
Protecting minors is TalkNote’s highest priority. In accordance with our Terms of Service, TalkNote is intended for users who are at least 13 years of age (or the digital consent age in your jurisdiction). Minors who use the Service must have parent or guardian permission.
Strictly Prohibited:
- Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) or Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (CSAE) in any form (voice, text, or image).
- Grooming, sexual solicitation involving minors, or attempting to obtain sexual media or personal details from minors.
- Sexualization of minors or predatory behavior targeting younger users.
Enforcement Notice: Severe child-safety violations may result in immediate permanent account termination and, where required or appropriate under applicable law, reports to relevant authorities, including NCMEC where applicable.
5. Sexual & Explicit Content
TalkNote enforces clear boundaries around explicit adult material to maintain a safe broadcast environment across public notes and live audio spaces.
Prohibited content includes:
- Pornography, explicit sexual acts, or graphic depictions of sexual intercourse.
- Non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII) or revenge pornography.
- Commercial sexual solicitation or prostitution offers.
Permitted Discussions: Nuanced, educational, health-related, or artistic discussions regarding relationships, reproductive health, human sexuality, and literature are allowed, provided they do not depict explicit pornography.
6. Privacy & Personal Information
Respecting privacy is vital on a voice-first platform. You may not publish or distribute private, non-public personal information without explicit authorization.
Prohibited actions include:
- Sharing private home addresses, personal phone numbers, government ID numbers, financial account details, or passwords (doxxing).
- Voice Recording Privacy: Maliciously distributing private voice recordings or secret audio captures recorded in confidential settings without consent.
- Publishing private medical details or private intimate communications without permission.
7. Authenticity & Impersonation
Users should be authentic. Deceiving listeners about your identity to mislead or defraud the community is prohibited.
Prohibited behavior includes:
- Impersonating individuals, creators, brands, public figures, government entities, or TalkNote staff in a deceptive manner.
- Creating fake accounts to manipulate brand reputation or mislead the public during emergencies.
Parody & Commentary: Parody, satire, commentary, or fan accounts are permitted provided the account bio and display name clearly state that the account is not affiliated with the subject.
8. Spam, Scams & Platform Manipulation
You may not use TalkNote to conduct fraudulent activities or artificially manipulate platform engagement.
Prohibited actions include:
- Phishing, advance-fee scams, cryptocurrency schemes, or deceptive financial solicitations.
- Distributing malware, spyware, or malicious external link destinations.
- Sending mass unsolicited spam notes, comments, or direct messages.
- Coordinated artificial engagement, bot networks, or buying/selling followers and audio listens.
9. Misleading & Manipulated Content
TalkNote does not police every incorrect statement or debate opinion. However, we address harmful deception that causes serious real-world risk.
Prohibited behavior includes:
- Synthesized or materially manipulated media (e.g., deepfake audio or voice clones) presented deceptively to defame individuals or cause panic.
- Intentionally deceptive information regarding active public emergencies or civic processes designed to trick people or endanger safety.
Permitted: Genuine mistakes, satirical audio edits, parody, creative voice filters, and speculative commentary.
10. Self-Harm & Suicide
We care deeply about community health. While we support open discussions around mental health recovery, we restrict content that encourages self-injury.
Prohibited behavior includes:
- Encouraging, glorifying, or urging someone to commit suicide or engage in self-harm.
- Sharing actionable instructions, lethal methods, or suicide challenges.
Seeking Support: Sharing personal mental health journeys, recovery experiences, or offering support resources is strongly encouraged.
11. Illegal & Regulated Activity
TalkNote may not be used to facilitate illegal acts or the unauthorized sale of dangerous goods.
Prohibited activity includes:
- Facilitating the sale of illegal drugs, prescription narcotics, illegal weapons, or dangerous contraband.
- Promoting financial fraud, money laundering, human trafficking, or stolen goods.
Discussion Allowed: Discussing drug policy reform, legal history, news reporting on crime, or personal stories is allowed.
12. Graphic & Disturbing Content
We restrict gratuitously violent or gruesome content to protect our community from shocking imagery and audio.
Prohibited media includes: Gratuitous depictions of severe violence, dismemberment, torture, gore, or animal cruelty posted for shock value.
Newsworthy Context: Documenting news, warfare, or human rights violations is evaluated taking into account public-interest context.
13. Live Rooms
Live audio broadcasting is a core TalkNote experience. All hosts, speakers, and listeners must abide by these Community Guidelines while in Live audio spaces.
Live Guidelines:
- Live rooms may not be used to broadcast targeted harassment, hate speech, threats, or illegal acts.
- Hosts are expected to use available moderation controls to help maintain a safe room. Host permission does not override TalkNote policies.
- Audio streams violating safety standards may be interrupted or terminated by platform moderation.
14. Intellectual Property
Respect the creative rights of artists, podcasters, and creators. You should only share content you own, are licensed or permitted to use, or are otherwise legally entitled to share.
If you believe content on TalkNote infringes your intellectual property rights, please contact TalkNote Support with details of the claim for review.
15. Platform Integrity
Maintaining security and stability is necessary for everyone’s safety.
Prohibited actions include:
- Evading previous account suspensions or enforcement restrictions by creating new accounts.
- Attempting to bypass security controls, exploit software vulnerabilities, or reverse-engineer private APIs.
- Unauthorized web scraping or automated harvesting of private user data.
16. Enforcement
To uphold safety, TalkNote takes proportionate enforcement action based on violation severity, history, intent, and context.
Enforcement Actions:
- Content Removal: Removing or hiding violating notes, audio broadcasts, captions, or comments.
- Warning Notices: Issuing formal policy notices for minor first-time infractions.
- Feature Restrictions: Temporarily restricting access to posting, live broadcasting, or messaging.
- Account Suspension: Temporarily disabling account access during ongoing investigations.
- Permanent Account Termination: Permanently revoking account access for severe or repeated safety violations.
Escalation: Severe violations (such as child exploitation or violent threats) do not require prior warnings and may result in immediate permanent account termination.
17. Reporting Violations
We rely on our community to help keep TalkNote safe. You can report safety concerns through our confirmed operational channels:
- In-App Stream Flagging: Users may flag inappropriate audio streams directly within the broadcast UI.
- Web Support Portal: Submit detailed support tickets at talknote.co/support.
- Email Support: Send reports directly to our safety team at support@rareincorporated.com.
18. Decision Reviews & Appeals
If you believe TalkNote made an enforcement decision in error, you may request a review through TalkNote Support by emailing support@rareincorporated.com or submitting a request at talknote.co/support.
Review Process: Decision reviews are currently processed manually by TalkNote personnel. Please include your username and relevant ticket or account details when requesting a review.
19. Context Matters
Safety moderation is not always black and white. When evaluating potential policy violations, TalkNote considers relevant context, including:
- The speaker’s intent, tone, and framing (e.g., satire, commentary, or humor vs. malicious targeting).
- Public interest, newsworthiness, or educational value.
- Credible real-world risk or potential for immediate harm.
- Prior account history and patterns of behavior.
While context helps inform our decisions, it does not excuse severe safety violations such as child exploitation or credible violent threats.
These Community Guidelines form part of the standards governing your use of TalkNote as referenced in our Terms of Service.
